Military unit A7221

On June 18, 2018, the military unit A7221 was founded in the city of Dnipro. Its creation was dictated by the need to strengthen the national security of the state, enhance the defense of the country's territory and protect the population.

From June 2018 to February 2022, the command staff was formed, units were structured, and scenarios and tasks were practiced in case of war or emergencies. The backbone of the military unit A7221 is made up of volunteers from among patriotic, active citizens, ATO-JFO veterans who were ready to become military personnel of the Territorial Defense Forces if necessary.

On February 24, 2022, on the first day of the full-scale Russian-Ukrainian invasion, the military unit A7221 was immediately transferred to wartime staff. In a matter of days, the unit was formed, with both trained reservists and volunteers as its core. As soon as they received their weapons, the units occupied areas dangerous for enemy troops to break through on the administrative borders of Dnipropetrovs'k region, where they set up defense lines and strongholds, were involved in anti-sabotage activities, protected infrastructure facilities, and served at checkpoints. At the same time, the personnel, most of whom had no experience in handling weapons and mastering military weapons and equipment, are being trained. The military unit A7221 is becoming a real combat unit.

On April 22, 2022, the first pages of its glorious history are written. The units took part in heavy battles near the settlements of Velyka Novosilka, Vremivka, Neskuchne, Volnovakha district, Donetsk region. While performing their tasks, the personnel showed courage, high combat capability and discipline, fulfilling their assigned tasks. The heroism and combat successes of the soldiers of the A7221 military unit were recognized with state awards. After these battles, the names of the military personnel of the military unit were added to the martyrology of the heroes of the Ukrainian people.

From June 3 to October 23, 2022, the military unit A7221 receives a new combat mission. It is transferred to another section of the Russian-Ukrainian front. It is based on the border of Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia regions. Tasks are performed near the village of Temyrivka and the village of Novodarivka. In these battles, the military unit A7221 moves to a higher level of combat capability - improving the means and methods of defeating the enemy, conducting counterattacks and successful assault operations, capturing personnel and enemy armored vehicles. Despite the superiority of the forces as a result of the successful actions of the Dnipro men, the enemy suffers heavy losses. The name of the military unit A7221 appears in the news, and its name becomes legendary and well-deserved. Dozens of soldiers receive state awards, honors from the Ministry of Defense and the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces. Unfortunately, these victories came at a terrible price. Soldiers of the A7221 military unit were heroically killed and wounded in action.

On October 23, 2022, the military unit A7221 is withdrawn from the combat zone, and the 3rd separate assault brigade is formed from part of its combat personnel. The military unit A7221 is being manned. A new commander has been appointed to the command, the command structure is being updated, soldiers with combat experience are being appointed to officer and sergeant positions, and personnel are being recruited. The unit now includes not only residents of Dnipro, but also residents of Kharkiv, Odesa, Zaporizhzhia, Kyiv and other regions of Ukraine. The unit is restoring and improving its combat capability and material base. Using its vast experience and professional skills, motivated by the idea of defeating the enemy in a short time, the military unit A7221 is prepared to perform new tasks.

Already on January 6, 2023, the military unit A7221 will be sent to perform new combat missions to counter military aggression by the Russian Federation. This time the location is the south of Zaporizhzhia region.

Taking part in the fighting, the military unit A7221 has once again proved its effectiveness, high combat capability and professionalism. The unit has destroyed Russian troops, fortifications, equipment, UAVs, and captured trophies. Using creative, innovative approaches, the unit's military specialists developed and put into service new systems to destroy the enemy - a multiple rocket launcher system and a self-propelled system based on an enemy-seized MTLB.

The unit's UAV operators are among the first in this area to effectively use FPV drones. The servicemen of the military unit A7221 are once again awarded with state awards, insignia of the command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the TRO Forces for their heroism, courage, high combat training, and successful completion of tasks

Today, the military unit A7221 continues to perform combat missions. Every day and night, soldiers destroy the enemy, defending the freedom, independence, and right to existence of our people.
